Join us for the DPS Countdown to Kindergarten on Friday, August 3rd from 5:45-8:00 at the Museum of Life and Science! This event is free to all kindergartners and their families. We hope to see you there!
Durham Public Schools (DPS) welcomes you and your child to a
wonderful school experience! Your child's education begins with their
Kindergarten year - a year that is filled with new and exciting
experiences for children and their families.
DPS offers choice for families interested in a variety of
instructional approaches, ensures the safety of every child, and
focuses on high student achievement to fully prepare your child for
success in life.
DPS has our own Kindergarten mascot - Dottie the Mouse! Dottie is
warm and fuzzy, just like our Kindergarten classrooms! Look for Dottie
at our special Kindergarten events. Thank you for choosing DPS for your

Durham Public Schools is participating in the state's Health and
Ready to Learn initiative. Its goal is to match families without
medical insurance to North Carolina's two insurance programs. If you
